Online therapy in English, French and Swedish.

ABOUT ME

HOW I AM

I'm a clinical/counselling psychologist with many years of experience from a wide range of different mental health problems. I strive to offer a warm and secure environment and will adapt the therapy to meet your needs.

The therapeutic approaches I work with are evidence-based methods in the field of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and I most often work with MCT (metacognitive therapy).

I provide therapy in English, French and Swedish.

WHAT I'VE DONE

During my years as a psychologist I have treated several mental problems and meet people in all ages.

I have worked in a child and adolescent psychiatry with therapy and parental support. Thereafter I worked for a health center with adults and closely collaborated with doctors, nurses and physioterapists.

For a period was a volunteer for an NGO in Sri Lanka called "Child Action Lanka" working with children from vulnerable families.

Currently I offer therapy online and have done so for the last couple of years.

EDUCATION

  • Master of science in psychology.

         Lunds University 2012 - 2017

  • Metacognitiv therapy masterclass. Stockholm 2023

During my studies at university I got a vast and thoroughly knowledge in the fields of psychology and treatment. We went threw developmental psychology, neuropsychology, pathology, organisation psychology and many different therapy methods.

After some years of experience as a clinical psychologist I wanted to go deeper in one method and specialise in metacognitiv therapy (MCT).

MY SPECIALTIES

ANXIETY

Anxiety disorder are characterised by excessive fear and worry and related behavioural symptoms such as avoiding and taking precautions. Symptoms can be severe enough to result in significant distress and/or difficulties in functioning. For example social anxiety which makes it difficult to have relationships and functioning at school or work.

PHOBIAS

Phobias aren’t just extreme fears — they’re irrational fears. This means that the anxious feelings are larger than the true danger that the object or situation poses.

For example, if you fear heights, you might feel extreme anxiety or panic if you go above the 10th floor of an office building. This would be an irrational fear, as the building would have multiple security measures in place to keep you safe.

DEPRESSION

Depression is different from usual mood fluctuations and short-lived emotional responses to challenges in everyday life.  During a depressive episode, the person experiences depressed mood (feeling sad, irritable, empty) or a loss of pleasure or interest in activities, for most of the day, nearly every day, for at least two weeks. Several other symptoms are also present, which may include poor concentration, feelings of excessive guilt or low self-worth, hopelessness about the future, thoughts about dying or suicide, disrupted sleep, changes in appetite or weight, and feeling especially tired or low in energy.

OCD-OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER

Obsessions are thoughts, images, or impulses that occur over and over again and feel outside of the person’s control. Individuals with OCD do not want to have these thoughts and find them disturbing.

Compulsions are repetitive behaviors or thoughts that a person uses to neutralize or counteract the obsession, essentially to try and make their obsessions go away.

PARENTING DIFFICULTIES

To be a parent is not always simple and especially not so if the child has a difficulties. It can be hard to know what to do as a parent and how to deal with the child's emotions but also your own emotions.

Thoughts of partenthood may take up a lot of time and lead to a lot worry and therefor a lack of self esteem as parent.

GAD-GENERAL ANXIETY DISORDER

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is more than just the worries most people will experience on occasion.

GAD is a type of anxiety disorder that’s chronic, involving excessive worry and tension even when there’s nothing to provoke it.

PANIC DISORDER

Panic disorder symptoms are mostly centered around panic attacks. Symptoms of a panic attack often include a pounding or racing heart, sweatiness, and dizziness. Your hands may tingle or feel numb, causing you to genuinely believe you’re having a heart attack or stroke.

A panic attack isn’t dangerous, but it can be frightening. It can make you feel like you’re “out of control.”

TRAUMA & PTSD

PTSD may develop following exposure to an extremely threatening or horrific event or series of events. It is characterised by all of the following: 1) re-experiencing the traumatic event or events in the present (intrusive memories, flashbacks, or nightmares); 2) avoidance of thoughts and memories of the event(s), or avoidance of activities, situations, or people reminiscent of the event(s); and 3) persistent perceptions of heightened current threat. These symptoms persist for at least several weeks and cause significant impairment in functioning.

STRESS & BURNOUT

Stress is a natural response to everyday or extraordinary stressors. Sometimes, it can linger for a while and become chronic. This may lead to burnout, but not always.

When you’re exposed to persistent stressors, you may experience chronic stress. Chronic stress refers to the stress response being activated for a long time or in a recurring way.

RELATIONAL DIFFICULTIES

Relationships are hard for everyone but sometimes it's a pattern of difficulties throughout all relationships. It can be because of excessive rumination, low self esteem or difficulties to manage emotions. This can lead to distress in life and many problems, for example at work, with friends and family and with your partner.
